Expanse Studios, the business-to-business games unit of Meridian Holdings, has started live operations with a Swedish operator for the first time, according to a company announcement dated 13 October 2026. The move commercially activates a software provider permit that Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority, issued in December 2025 and that extends to December 2030. The significance lies in Sweden's regulatory design: every operator must hold a Spelinspektionen licence, and most player spending sits with those licensed platforms, so a supplier earns regulated revenue only after pairing its own permit with a live contract.

A permit alone does not create revenue

Meridian's announcement says that in Sweden all operators require a licence from Spelinspektionen, and that player activity is heavily concentrated on licensed platforms. Because of this, a studio typically needs a relationship with a licensed operator to reach regulated Swedish players; otherwise it is left with unlicensed or grey-market traffic, according to the EQS-News release. Expanse received its Swedish supplier permit in December 2025, but the October 2026 launch is the event that moved the company from approval to live revenue generation in the country.

From licence approval to first revenue

The gap between the December 2025 licence award and the first live deployment in October 2026 highlights that regulatory permission is only a starting point. Damjan Stamenkovic, Expanse Studios' chief executive, said: 'A license is the permission to compete. Going live is the proof that our content clears the bar.' He added that Sweden has some of Europe's toughest regulatory requirements and that launching with a licensed operator shows the studio's content and compliance can meet the standard in real operation, not just on paper.

A broad regulated-market footprint

The Swedish launch gives Expanse another mature western European market. Meridian said Expanse has content certifications for 14 regulated markets spanning Europe, Latin America and Africa. The list includes Sweden, Malta, Portugal, Croatia, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Brazil and Colombia. Its catalogue consists of almost 100 proprietary games, and these are supplied to more than 1,800 online casino brands globally. The titles cover slot machines, crash games, turn-based formats and card games. Meridian, which operates across more than 25 international regulated markets, said the Swedish expansion fits its plan to increase B2B revenue alongside its consumer-facing betting operations.

What the first Swedish operator contract indicates

Because Sweden licences every operator, those locally authorised companies are the gatekeepers for supplier content. The company's announcement says that when content suppliers work with locally licensed Swedish operators, they secure both technical and compliance standing and a wider commercial route. StockTitan described the move as carrying Expanse from a licensing approval into live commercial work in Sweden. The unnamed operator agreement signals that Expanse has cleared the two-stage access barrier: first obtaining a supplier permit, then integrating with a regulated brand. A supplier licence without an operator contract would not generate regulated Swedish revenue.

Limits of the disclosure

Meridian did not identify the Swedish operator or publish financial terms or revenue projections for the deployment. The information originates from a corporate press release distributed through EQS-News and represents the company's own claims rather than independent verification. DirectorTalk Interviews said further expansion will depend on winning more operator relationships, broadening distribution and stimulating demand for Expanse's games. StockTitan also noted that Meridian shares ended 2.22% lower on 14 October, the day the announcement was published, though the release gave no financial guidance linked to the Swedish launch.
